Skip bin hire in Newcastle
Newcastle is really two jobs for a skip bin. The inner suburbs are terraces and workers cottages on narrow streets with no off-street parking. The ring beyond them is post-war brick and tile with a driveway you can back a truck onto. Which half you are in decides where the bin sits and whether the council has to know about it.
What Newcastle jobs look like
Most of what we take out of Newcastle is renovation waste. The inner suburbs have been turning over for twenty years and a terrace strip-out fills a bin faster than people expect: lath and plaster, old flooring, a bathroom, and a skip load of bricks from whatever got knocked through.
The rest is turnover. Rentals and unit blocks change hands constantly around Hamilton, Islington and The Junction, and the clear-out at the end of a tenancy is usually one 4m³ bin and a hard deadline. Out through Lambton, Merewether and Adamstown it is more likely a garden, a garage or a deceased estate.

Where the bin can sit in Newcastle
Off the street is always easier. In Merewether, Lambton, New Lambton, Adamstown and Waratah that is usually straightforward, because there is a driveway or a hardstand and the truck can get in and out. In Cooks Hill, Hamilton, Islington, Carrington and Tighes Hill it often is not: the terraces have no off-street parking, the streets are narrow, and the bin ends up on the road.
Stockton is worth a mention on its own: everything crosses the bridge or comes the long way round, so give us as much notice as you can.
Council approval
The road and the footpath are public land, so a bin there normally needs City of Newcastle's approval. Their process, their call, so check with them first. On your own property there is nobody to ask.

Newcastle questions
Which council do I deal with in Newcastle?
City of Newcastle, for anything that involves placing the bin on public land. On your own driveway, lawn or hardstand there is nobody to ask. Their process and their fees are theirs, so check their page rather than ours before you book.
Can I put a bin on the street in Cooks Hill or Hamilton?
Often that is the only option, because the terraces have no off-street parking. The street is public land, so it normally needs City of Newcastle approval first. Tell us when you enquire and we will place it as tightly as the street allows.
Do you deliver to Stockton?
Yes, though it is the one run worth giving extra notice on. Everything either crosses the bridge or comes the long way round through Fern Bay, so a same-week booking is easier than a same-day one.
What size suits a terrace renovation?
A single room or a bathroom is usually a 3m³ or 4m³. A full strip-out with flooring, plaster and old fittings is more often a 6m³. If there is a lot of brick or tile coming out, the weight matters more than the volume and that changes the answer.
Do you cover Charlestown and Warners Bay?
We do, but they sit in Lake Macquarie City Council rather than City of Newcastle, so the permit side is a different conversation. Worth knowing if your job is near the boundary.
