Waste guide

What can go in a skip bin

Most of it is simpler than people expect. There is a short list of material no skip can take, and after that it is a question of which bin you booked.

Never in any skip

  • Asbestos
  • Liquids
  • Paint, solvents and thinners
  • Chemicals, pesticides and pool chemicals
  • Gas bottles and fire extinguishers
  • Tyres
  • Batteries, car and household
  • Medical or contaminated waste

What goes in which bin

Four streams, priced and handled differently. Tell us which one your job is closest to and we will point you at the right bin.

Ask before you load it

A few common items need sorting out before the bin turns up rather than after. Fridges and air conditioners hold refrigerant gas, which has to be removed by a licensed technician before the unit can be scrapped. E-waste and mattresses usually go through their own streams instead of general waste. Treated timber cannot be mulched, so it never belongs in a green waste load. None of it is hazardous, but where it can go and what it costs depends on the facility, so tell us what you have when you enquire and we will tell you how it needs to go.

The short version

If you are not sure what goes in the bin, put it in the enquiry. It costs nothing to ask, and it saves the quote changing once the bin is on the driveway.

Still not sure what bin you need?

Describe the load when you send the form and we will tell you which bin it belongs in before anything gets delivered.
